There have been over three million abortions since Roe v. Wade was overturned; that makes over a million a year, more than in the years leading up to its reversal. It makes you wonder what all these feminists are talking about when they complain that their right to bodily autonomy has been impeded.

A woman’s fundamental right to bodily autonomy truly begins long before conception even takes place, specifically when she is carefully weighing the potential long-term consequences of engaging in unprotected sexual activity. In the very act of choosing to have unprotected sex, a modern woman is knowingly and willingly opening herself up not only to the incredible possibility of an unexpected pregnancy but also to a vast, highly concerning number of dangerous sexually transmitted diseases and infections that can severely impact her overall health and well-being for the rest of her life.

When facing the complex realities of sexually transmitted diseases, a woman’s primary medical answer often involves taking the right prescription medication or diligently applying the right therapeutic configuration of topical cream to restore her health. Similarly, a woman’s fundamental answer to navigating a healthy pregnancy is to eat right, take meticulous care of herself physically and emotionally, or finally quit smoking for good, rather than choosing to have some cold, invasive surgical tool glide completely through her sensitive body and forcefully carve out another living, breathing, and growing human being.

When a woman acquires a sexually transmitted disease, she does not simply resort to drastic, self-destructive measures like chopping her genitalia off; instead, she carefully follows established medical protocol and professional guidance. It is precisely the same scenario with a developing baby: she does not merely scrape it out in a reckless manner, but rather she honors and follows her body’s profound, natural instinct to fiercely protect and deeply nurture new life against all odds.

An abortion should never be utilized simply as another casual method of birth control, yet statistics and anecdotal evidence suggest it frequently serves this exact purpose for the vast majority of unwanted pregnancies. The justification that a woman lacks the financial resources to raise a child, no longer harbors affection for the father, or simply finds the current timing profoundly inconvenient provides absolutely no moral or ethical excuse to extinguish a developing human life in such a deeply gruesome and heartbreaking manner.

A developing child, who, according to all comprehensive medical reports and scientific observations, is fully capable of feeling pain, is savagely butchered and violently sucked from the sanctuary of the womb. This is a precious human life that must be rightfully afforded the exact same fundamental opportunities to succeed, to fail, or to one day bear their own children just like anyone else walking this earth.

Women have the right to do with their bodies what they see fit; they don’t have the right to do the same with the baby inside. The baby didn’t ask to be here or to suffer a barbaric abortion; they’re here as a result of her decision to have unprotected sex—that’s it. Many women will say the man is equally culpable for the pregnancy, but he doesn’t have any say in whether the baby lives or dies.

If women truly are responsible for their bodies, aren’t they responsible for the pregnancy as well? Shouldn’t she be accountable for her actions?

If you eat a ton, then you get fat; if you learn a lot, you become smart; if you murder, you go to prison; and if you get pregnant, you have a child. These are all consequences of your actions; why should a pregnancy uniquely come with an erase button?

As society ages, certain institutions like slavery and eugenics have aged badly, and you have to wonder whether abortion will age just as badly. Right now, women can terminate their pregnancies for reasons as frivolous as not liking maternity clothes or because they won’t be able to afford a new car.

Children are evacuated up to the ninth month, as sick as that sounds, and that is unequivocally murder. Babies are killed in the womb well past the age of viability, and they are terminated in such a brutal fashion that inmates on death row die more humanely.

Will society look back at abortions as cruel and senseless actions caused by selfish needs? How long can we justify an inconvenience as a reason for murder? Because that’s what it comes down to: an inconvenience, giving up a lifestyle for someone you created.
